SUMMARY:Somaliland Independence Celebration Event 2022
DESCRIPTION:Somaliland is a breakaway\, semi-desert territory on the coast of the Gulf of Aden\, Somaliland declared independence after the overthrow of Somali military dictator Siad Barre in 1991. The move followed a secessionist struggle during which Siad Barre’s forces pursued rebel guerrillas in the territory. Somaliland Independence Day is an annual celebration held on 18 May to mark the polity’s declaration of independence from the Somali Democratic Republic\, a unilateral proclamation which remains unrecognised the world over. Socio Economic Regeneration work with the Somaliland community leaders to arrange the first Independence Day Celebration in Manchester. This will now become an annual event.

SUMMARY:Back to School Family Fun Day
DESCRIPTION:Back to School Family Fun Day is a community event reaching out to those in financial difficulty\, isolated or vulnerable residents in the Moss Side\, Rusholme and Hulme wards of Manchester. During the event we will provide a range of free activities\, but most importantly will be providing families with essential school items such as stationary and uniforms. We will also invite partners who can offer financial advice and support to families. The event will support residents like the elderly and single parents looking after young people on their own who need extra support. The event is intergenerational and aims to bring people together both old and young\, from different communities. We hope to improve the cohesion in our neighbourhood through this activity and create opportunities for young people to thrive and realise their full potential. The event is a partnership between local community residents and the Moss Side Resident Association\, we will also be working with other local groups who focus on reducing poverty and supporting those in need.  The event will be held in the Recreation Park\, Moss Side on the 1st September 2018\, 12pm -8pm. The event will be open to residents in the Moss Side\, Rusholme and Hulme wards of Manchester. \n
